2025 Rising Star Award Winner: Taner Reece
On Tuesday, May 6, Pick Ellijay hosted the inaugural Trailblazer Summit- the first annual meeting celebrating a year of growth, innovation, and dedication in Gilmer County’s tourism industry. This special event highlighted the achievements of the hospitality community and honored outstanding individuals who are shaping the future of tourism in our region. Four awards were presented: the Rising Star Award, Spirit of the Community Award, Frontline Service Award, and the Creative Expression Award.
The Rising Star Award recognizes a professional under 40 whose talent, drive, and leadership are already making a powerful impact. Tourism thrives on people willing to take risks, innovate, and build something new-and this year’s honoree embodies all of that.
Taner Reece, a homegrown entrepreneur with deep roots in the community, has done just that. With a clear vision, a strong plan, and unwavering determination, he launched Reece’s Cider Company-a business that quickly became one of the county’s most-visited destinations, consistently ranking in Gilmer County’s top 10.
But Taner’s work extends far beyond business success. He’s committed to creating a positive impact through community involvement-supporting local nonprofits, opening his facility for events, mentoring other small businesses, and investing in the well-being and growth of his team.
His leadership and community spirit have already earned him statewide recognition, including a spot on Georgia Trend’s 40 Under 40 list. In just four years, Taner has proven that passion, purpose, and perseverance can create something truly meaningful.
