Hike on Carters Lake’s Tumbling Waters Trail for an easy hike. This one-mile round-trip hike has the perfect scenery, covered in moss, ferns, and old-growth trees, that anybody will love. Halfway through the trail, walk on the wooden bridge overlooking the river and the tumbling waters. At the end of the trail, walk to the overlook, see the famous tumbling waters, and take in the beautiful atmosphere!

 

Another family-friendly trail we love is the Fort Mountain State Park Trail! This popular 1.2-mile trail is renowned for its Fire Tower and the mysterious stone wall the Moon Eye people-built
thousands of years ago. While hiking, you can learn about the history of the Moon Eye People and the mystery of why they created the 885 feet long wall. When you reach the top of the trail and make it to the fire tower, look for the heart-shaped stone hidden on one of the walls! Hiking is the perfect way to connect with your family and nature, and Ellijay is the ideal place to do so!
