Nestled in the foothills of the Cartecay, Ott Farms and Vineyards is more than just a winery, but a love story brought to life. Inspired by their own romance, the owners transformed 20+ acres of rolling hills into a vineyard that’s nothing short of a dream, making it the perfect Valentine’s Day escape to Ellijay Wine Country.
Ott Vineyards Story
When 15-year-old Michael Ott got his first cow, he knew farming was his calling. Over 30 years later and after some life-changing moments, Mike hit the road to see what the world had to offer. His farming skills quickly made him a sought-after vineyard consultant, helping build a few North Georgia Vineyards.
Fate stepped in when an injury led him to physical therapy, where he met Lee. She had found her own passion in helping others recover from injury, and while Mike was smitten instantly—Lee took a little longer to admit she felt the same! Five months later, he finally asked her out, and the rest is history!
Since then, Mike and Lee realized their dream with the opening of their Tasting Room and the production of wines from their own grapes. Ott has flourished into a breathtaking vineyard with 180-degree panoramic views of the North Georgia Mountains.
Wines Inspired By True Love
At Ott Vineyards & Winery, every bottle tells a story—one of passion, craftsmanship, and a deep love for winemaking in the heart of Ellijay. Their 2023 My Love, a luxurious port-style wine, captivates with velvety notes of cherry and dark chocolate, aged to perfection for 18 months in a Jack Daniels barrel. The 2022 Believe, a beautifully balanced Chambourcin/Lenoire blend, offers warm hints of cherry and vanilla, enriched by seven months in a rye whiskey barrel.
For those who prefer something lighter, Make Me Blush is a refreshing rosé with bright strawberry and watermelon notes, finishing with a hint of spice. Love Lee is a bold, full-bodied red, bursting with black currant, blackberry, and black cherry, complemented by undertones of pepper, spice, and smoke. Affection, a Georgia-grown favorite, delights with strawberries and cream on the nose, a rich red wine mouthfeel, and a crisp, off-dry finish.
