Less than 10 minutes from the heart of Downtown Ellijay, Roo Mountain Vineyards is another hidden gem waiting to be discovered. With handcrafted wines and ciders, gourmet treats, and stunning views that go on forever, Roo is the perfect place to wine, dine, and unwind.

The Story Behind Roo Mountain

Inspired by their own love of good wine, good music and good company, Roo’s founders purchased the property and began the meticulous planning process in 2018. Their goal? To make Roo Mountain a luxurious yet comfortable and inviting destination where they can share their love of the craft and the community.

At the heart of Roo Mountain’s identity is its distinctive emblem-the rooster. Why? This choice pays homage to the Cherokee heritage of the land, drawing inspiration from Native American traditions that revere birds as spiritual guides. The rooster, symbolizing the sun, resurrection, and protection, felt like a perfect fit.

Interestingly, when the vineyard was acquired, two farm residents were left behind—a rooster and a hen! These feathered friends became the original mascots of Roo Mountain, embodying the vineyard’s vibrant and welcoming spirit.
