The Aaron Family Orchards Story

What began as a small orchard more than 80 years ago has grown into a thriving multi-generational farm. In the late 1930s, Shafter and Reba Aaron started the farm by growing apples, laying the foundation for what would later become Aaron’s Apple House. Their son Jack carried on the tradition through the 1970s, followed by his son Alan, who led the farm from 2006 until 2024.

Since then, the orchard has been led by Alan’s son Joshua and his wife, Kaylee, who are continuing the family tradition. They’ve replanted much of the orchard to increase apple production, ensuring its growth for years to come. Alongside apples, they also grow a variety of vegetables and flowers, giving visitors a chance to enjoy the full bounty of the farm.

Visiting Aaron Family Orchards is all about savoring the freshest flavors of each season. From crisp apples to garden-fresh vegetables, the farm offers a wide variety of produce. The market is filled with homegrown goods and local favorites, including apple, strawberry, and peach products, and an assortment of syrups and honey. For something with a little extra kick, you’ll also find savory jams, spicy relishes, and salsas, perfect for bringing a taste of the orchard home.

Late summer and early fall are the perfect times to enjoy Aaron Family Orchards’ sunflower U-Pick fields. For just $10 per cup, you’ll get cutters and a container from the market to create your own bouquet of bright blooms. Set against Ellijay’s rolling Appalachian foothills, the sunflower fields make a beautiful spot for a stroll, and the perfect backdrop for photos.
