Once a historic farm dating back to 1890, Cartecay Vineyards is nestled in the rolling foothills of the Southern Appalachians. Established in 2007 as Ellijay’s first vineyard, Cartecay has grown into a vibrant destination for wine lovers. This September, the vineyard comes alive with its Harvest Festival, featuring grape stomping, live music, food trucks, and local arts and crafts vendors, the perfect way to enjoy the fall season in North Georgia.

From Farm to Vineyard

What used to be a farm growing corn and hay and raising cattle is now a lively vineyard full of events, music, and great wine. Crafted on site, Cartecay’s estate wines are grown, fermented, produced, and bottled right at the vineyard. A few favorites include their signature Vidal Blanc, a crisp, dry, and smooth white wine with flavors of grapefruit and honeysuckle, and just a hint of minerality at the finish. Spread across 14 acres of vineyards, the Tasting Barn, Chimney Patio, Vineyard Bridge, hammock areas, and picnic tables offer plenty of beautiful spots to relax and take in the views.

Harvest Festival- Sip, Stomp, and Savor

This fall, Cartecay Vineyards will host a Harvest Festival every Saturday in September, giving everyone a chance to enjoy great wine in a beautiful outdoor setting. For just $5, guests can join in grape stomping, a fun nod to the traditional harvest celebrations. Plus, enjoy live music, grab a bite from food trucks, and browse arts and crafts from local vendors.

Can’t make it out to the vineyard? No worries! You can still experience Cartecay’s signature wines at their tasting room in Downtown Ellijay. Located on the Square, Cartecay Wine & Craft offers Cartecay’s estate wines, other Georgia wines, and local craft beers.
