The 2018 Gilmer Chamber Annual Meeting was held at the First Baptist Church on January 25.
Before the business of the day, native son Chuck Reece, editor in chief, of The Bitter Southerner was the keynote speaker. Chuck reminisced of his youth in Ellijay, told the story of The Bitter Southerner’s origins, and spoke about the need for tolerance for the economic wellbeing of our community.
Member of the Year
The 2016 Member of the Year, Karleen Ferguson had the privilege of announcing this year’s recipient, Chris Wang.
Business of the Year
Candra Warren with Candra Warren State Farm, recipient of the 2016 Business of the Year award, announced this year’s winner Pilgrims.
Citizen of the Year
Following the Member of the Year and Business of the Year awards, Mr. Ralph Cox 2016 Citizen of the Year announced this year’s Citizen of the Year, Mr. Larry Davis. For more information on the Citizen of the Year program, please visit our Citizen of the Year page.
Following the announcement of the Citizen of the Year, the Chamber’s 2017 Chairman of the Board, Lex Rainey, highlighted some of the successes of 2017.
