Local shop keepers in a small town can offer up big bargains
Ellijay and East Ellijay are home to many locally owned small businesses, from antique stores to thrifts to specialty boutiques. Parking is plentiful, and friendly shopkeepers invite you to come in and browse their selections.
Along the walkable streets surrounding downtown Ellijay’s picturesque square, visitors will find shops offering products like healthy olive oils, pottery, soaps, Himalayan salt crystals, jewelry, clothing and accessories, unique gifts, and antiques and collectibles. Need a break from shopping? Grab a coffee or enjoy a scoop or two of ice cream and have a seat at the fountain in the middle of the square. Several downtown eateries are open for lunch. Within just a few minutes’ drive of downtown are dozens of other shops catering to antique lovers, bargain hunters, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts.
East Ellijay is home to several recognizable national chain stores which suitably supply all of the community’s household, electronics, grocery, automotive, and home improvement needs. Other retail businesses may be found in several shopping centers in the surrounding area. Many are conveniently located along the main Highway 515 commercial corridor.
A visit to Ellijay and East Ellijay is not complete without a stop at one or two of the local apple orchards. Some orchards allow visitors to pick their own apples. This is the perfect place to stock up on different varieties of apples and other fresh produce in season. Most orchards also have a farm store offering a selection of other related products including apple cider, apple butter, jams and jellies, salsas, and fresh baked goods.
