Thanks to the hard work of business owners and volunteers, Ellijay is a true mountain bike destination that you must visit. Ellijay continues to provide awesome trails and all the services a Mountain Biker might need, whether you are a beginner or advanced.
So what’s happening in Ellijay right now?
Going into their 12th season, Mulberry Gap is focusing on providing the perfect mountain getaway for your group retreat. Their natural setting, fantastic facilities, famous home cooked meals, guided ride and shuttle services are just a few of the reasons you will want to come back again and again. They recently renovated two of their cabins or accommodate more families and couples and have plans to build an additional two cabins in July. Mulberry Gap also has a wide variety of great events that you will want to put on your calendar for 2018. They partner with Cartecay Bikes for the Drama Queen Ride in August and the Turkey Shuffle in November, which serve as fundraisers for the local mountain bike chapter, North Georgia Mountain Bike Association. Last December, they added a new event, the Fireball Fiasco, which makes it their 4th annual fundraiser of the year. Check out their calendar of events for more details. Cartecay Bike Shop launched their new YouTube Show “Between Two Wheels”, this show will have you laughing and itching to ride as you catch up on the happenings at the bike shop and mountain biking in North Georgia. Meet at the bike shop at 9am on Saturdays. Also mark your calendars for their Memorial Day Hot Dog & Hang Out P2 on Memorial Day, as well as their labor day ride.
Carters Lake During the month of March, Preston York with Flowmotion was able to complete the work on the trails at Ridgeway Recreation Area at Carters Lake. There is a new 2-mile beginner flow trail (green) and offers many skill building features. The original DH or gravity (red) trail has had its features upgraded and is still an expert (black diamond) trail. Talking Rock Preserve Talking Rock Preserve is a 210-acre conservation property owned by Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land located in both Pickens and Gilmer Counties. This property is available for public use and features multi use trails, bird watching, native flowering plants, and plans to expand to offer wildlife habitat projects, picnic and play areas and more.
