Start the New Year's weekend by saying farewell to 2018 with a sunset hike around the West Overlook Trail at Fort Mountain State Park. Watch the sunset and enjoy a campfire by the lake following the hike. Click Here for the event listing.

Ring in the New Year in style, with Chateau Meichtry's New Year's Eve Celebration Concert & Low Country Boil. They will have live music all day & night, starting with Mountain Assembly from 1:00-5:00pm. Stick around for the Annual Low Country Boil Concert & Dinner including live music with Matty Croxton & the Metadors performing as the Rocket Man, playing all the Elton John hits you know and love from 7-11:00pm & the low country boil dinner. Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge will host a special New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet with music by DJ JB Jams, dancing and a New Year's Eve toast at midnight. The cost is $160 per couple and reservations are required.Click Here for the event listing.
The Amercian Legion Post 82 will be hosting a big New Year's Eve Bash so bring your dancing shoes because DJ George will be spinning the tunes. There will be a hot food bar and a champagne toast. Admission is $10 a couple or $5 for singles. Click Here for the event listing.
The tradition continues at Cartecay River Experience with the Annual Chili Run. Ring in the new year on the Cartecay River. They will be set to paddle between 9:00-10:00am with shuttles ready to roll, equipment for the adventures and a bonfire blazing. The North Georgia Mountain Bike Association will have a New Year's Ride and Cookout at Talking Rock Nature Preserve. Bring the family for guided rides from beginners to experts or hike the multi-use trials at the preserve. Click Here for the event listing.
Are you brave enough to walk, run or swim into a mountain lake on New Year's Day? If so, participate in the southern version of the Polar Bear Plunge at Fort Mountain State Park, known as the Black Bear Plunge. Registration is $10 per person and registration begins at 9:00am.
