Interior Designer Creating Her Space in Ellijay
The love of art and design began at a young age for Sarah Cole. Raised in Marietta, Sarah's first job was in an art gallery and frame shop located just down the road from the iconic Big Chicken.
Sarah's love for art and her enterprising spirit led her to starting her first antiques business at 17 and to open a Jazzercise studio when she was 19. Sarah spent the next ten years teaching and building her Jazzercise business which became the most successful Jazzercise studio in Georgia! Thirty years later, Sarah's business partner still runs this studio.
The desire to raise her family in a small town led Sarah to the mountains 22 years ago. Originally settling in Blue Ridge, Sarah found great balance in raising her school-aged children and helping businesses in Downtown Blue Ridge with store design and visual merchandising. These projects quickly opened doors for Sarah to begin helping clients design the interiors of their dreams in their homes.
Fast forward to 2010. Sarah moved to Elliay and combined her love of antiques, reclaimed items and design and opened her own store on River Street, Paisley House Studios, offering great design finds and interior services.
The design side of Paisley House Studios grew so much that it quickly became a full-time career. Sarah restructured her business and moved her antique merchandise to Misty Hollow Antiques in Downtown Ellijay and moved her office space to CORE.
Sarah is dedicated to making her client's home uniquely their own, giving a thoughtful approach to interior styling and design helping clients explore and reflect their individuality. Whether that means enhancing their existing decor, working with special pieces that her clients love, or sourcing pieces and designing her clients' dream space from scratch, Sarah is committed to make visions a beautiful reality for her clients.
"For me creating and breathing go hand in hand," Sarah says. "My brain simply never stops coming up with ways to make my surroundings beautiful."
When Sarah isn't working, she loves spending time in her garden tending to her collection of hydrangeas, peonies, and roses.
She also loves hunting for the perfect vintage find and spent many happy hours shopping flea markets and thrift stores finding treasures to bring unique personal treasures to design her client's homes, to feature in her space at Misty Hollow Antiques in downtown Ellijay, and to add to her own personal collection.
Sarah is always finding new ways to craft a life that she loves here in the mountains. Sarah has created a rich existence for herself complete with a career, family, and friends.
Sarah counts the people she has met as the best part of her time in Ellijay so far.
"I love that no matter where I go I run into a friend," Sarah says. "I love that if I run into a problem as small as needing an egg or my car breaking down, help is at my doorstep through wonderful family, neighbors and friends in this community."
And the true Southern Hospitality that makes people fall in love with Ellijay is prompting many like Sarah to want to start a new life in the mountains.
With the surge of the real estate market Sarah has established herself as a successful home stager devoting a great bit of her business to helping local real estate agents sell homes. She focuses on featuring ideal living spaces for quicker sales.
