The Georgia Apple Blossom Festival Brings One Exciting Weekend to the North Georgia Mountains

EC8A6399-1024x683 Georgia Apple Blossom Festival - Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce In its fifth year, the Georgia Apple Blossom Festival is “all about the local,” according to Karla Haege, event organizer and Tourism Manager for the Gilmer Chamber.  This 2018 event, presented by Jasper Coca-Cola Bottling Co. will take place Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, on Craig Street, which runs parallel to Highway 515 and is in front of the Gilmer Chamber & Welcome Center located at 696 First Ave, East Ellijay. There is no cost for admission or parking for this event. As Haege noted, the festival only includes artists from the North Georgia region, and this year there will be over 50 vendors, as growth continues for this small event. “With a great variety of arts and crafts, from the popular carpenter bee traps to unique jewelry, there is something for everyone,” Haege. The Gilmer Chamber is also excited about the continued growth of the children’s area. This year Piedmont Mountainside Hospital has sponsored all the children’s activities, so they will be FREE. This includes a rock climbing wall, bounce houses, face painting, rock painting, balloons and a variety of other activities for youngsters to enjoy. Haege hopes this year’s festival will inspire people to “make a day” of exploring Gilmer County. “We want people to get out. That’s what it’s about,” she said before explaining how she wants to see people come by the festival and then attend some other events happening including a car show, live music at local vineyards, Run for the Son 5K, and more.
