Citizen of the Year Ballots Now Being Accepted
Pictured (L-R) Kent Sanford and Ben Kiker Started in 1986 with Gene Jones being the first recipient, the Gilmer County Citizen of the Year (COTY) has been awarded annually since. Ben L. Kiker was selected as the 2014 Citizen of the Year, adding his name to a very prestigious list. Ballots are now available for the 2015 Gilmer County Citizen of the Year. This award will be given to a deserving person who has given freely of his or her time to support the community and has lived in Gilmer County for a minimum of five years. Anyone can be nominated and anyone can nominate someone. The award will be presented in January. Ballots are available by Clicking Here or at the Chamber office at 696 First Avenue in East Ellijay, or call 706-635-7400 to request a ballot. Completed nominations must be received at the Chamber office by Friday, December 4, 2015.
