This is an easy to moderate trail located in the Ridgeway Recreation Area at Carters Lake. Hike the trail to the beautiful bridge then take the trail down to Tails Creek. Be ready to really expand your straps if you want to capture this spot, but there are many other beautiful locations to hang your hammock near the creek on this trail.
Amadahy Trail at Carters Lake
Grab your bike and your hammock and explore the Amadahy Trail at Carters Lake. This fantastic multi-use trail is a 3.5 mile loop. Located at the Woodring Branch Recreation Area off Hwy 282/76. The Amadahy Trail offers great lake views, and two small streams are found along the trail.

Harrison Park in Downtown Ellijay
Right in the heart of Downtown Ellijay is the perfect park to hang your hammock. This 26 acre park offers large shady trees along the Ellijay River offering the perfect location to relax. Located on McCutchen St., less than one-half mile from the roundabout, Harrison Park has walking paths and off-road parking available.
Bear Creek Trail
The Bear Creek Trail is known for its beautiful scenery along Bear Creek to the Gennett Poplar, the state record Tulip Poplar. There are many opportunities to hang your hammock and relax in the woods, while also enjoying one of the most popular and beautiful hikes in the area.
Fort Mountain State Park
Fort Mountain State Park has a beautiful lake with many perfect locations to hang your hammock. This state park also has other great amenities such as trails that host beautiful overlooks, a historic tower, and a waterfall. Other amenities include putt putt golf, kayak and paddle boat rentals, camping, a lakeside beach and plenty of picnic locations.
River Park in Ellijay
River Park boasts beautiful trees along the Coosawattee River that are the perfect location for your hammock. This linear park has a three-quarter mile walking track, picnic areas, tennis courts, exercise stations, and a small playground. It is also home to Veterans Memorial Bridge & Garden where tribute is paid to our great nation and all veterans. Located one and one-half miles south of the roundabout on Old Hwy 5S.
Located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, Noontootla Creek is known for its spectacular trout fishing. This area also has great hiking, some dispersed primitive camping and a few small waterfalls, all perfect locations to hang your hammock. It is also home to Noontootla Creek Farms.
Three Forks Trail
This familiar bridge is on the Three Forks Trail. This trail is on our Favorite Family Hiking Trails and is part of the Trout Adventure Trail. An easy 2.2 hike will lead you to Long Creek Falls. Cool bridges, streams, waterfalls and the opportunity to earn a patch will have your whole family hanging their hammocks along this trail.
Don't just stop at the Three Forks Trail, explore one of the most popular hiking destinations in Georgia. Hang your hammock, and take in the stunning views at 3,782 feet. You can hike the Appalachian Trail and the Benton Mackaye Trail on the Springer Mountain Loop.
