Summer is coming to an end and all the rewards of summer are now available. Watermelons, tomatoes, corn, apples, peaches and more are ready for you to support the farmer and eat local!
There is a saying, “An apple is an excellent thing until you’ve tried a peach.” Well lucky for you in the Apple Capital of the Peach State we grow both, and we grow them well!
Some of the biggest, juiciest peaches and the most crisp apples ever seen have come from our local apple houses and markets. R & A Orchards, Panorama Farm Market, Merciers Orchards are open year round, but this time of year is when the market is full with delicious goodies. Other seasonal apple houses, such as B.J. Reece Orchards, Aaron Family Orchards, Red Apple Barn and Penland’s Apple House kick off the season with Ginger Gold apples. A variety of peaches are also offered at these locations such as Glo Haven, Suncrest, Contender, Flamecrest, Victor Reds and many more. Penland’s also has their Nectarines in season right now. These apple houses also offer other produce fresh from their fields and orchards.
Saturday mornings from 8-12 you can cruise into Downtown Ellijay and visit the Farmer’s Market. This is the best time of year to visit the Farmer’s Market, there are plenty of vendors ready to sell you fresh eggs, produce, baked goods, and more.
Fall is just around the corner, but don’t miss out on all the end of summer has to offer in Ellijay!
