Every Memorial Day weekend the fine folks of Ellijay get excited to host you, our guests. We kick off summer with plenty of activities and outdoor adventures for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Here are the top things to do in Ellijay this Memorial Day Weekend.
Cool Off and Enjoy the Water!
Tubing the Rivers (That’s right! You can tube more than one!)
Ellijay’s name is derived from Indian word(s) meaning “many waters” and you can experience our many rivers! Tube or kayak the Ellijay River, Cartecay River or the Coosawattee River. All three offer a combination of relaxation and fun!
Pickin’ on the Porch
Coosawattee River Tubing Company will have their Pickin’ on the Porch concert on May 27 from 7-9pm featuring The Band Raven. Bring your lawn chair and after a day on the river enjoy some free live music.
Beaches, we got those too.
Fort Mountain State Park & Harris Branch at Carter’s Lake both have lakeside beaches for families to enjoy.
Spend the Day on Carters Lake
Don’t have your own boat, rent a pontoon boat from Carter’s Lake Marina. You can also grab a bite to eat at the Marina.
Need a thrill on the river?
Not too far from Ellijay, we have unforgettable rafting experiences.
