On Saturday, May 14, 2016, a long awaited day came with the ribbon cutting and official opening of the Clear Creek Ballfield Complex. On land donated by the Gilmer County Board of Education, the Clear Creek complex is a cloverleaf complex for baseball and softball. Its completion was a combined effort by the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners, Gilmer County Board of Education, Senator Steve Gooch and Speaker of the House David Ralston. Through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the State of Georgia contributed more than half a million dollars in funding to help bring the complex to completion. With the addition of the complex, the Gilmer County Parks & Recreation department will now be able to host more and larger tournaments.
