The Greater Gilmer Joint Development Authority is pleased to announce that lifelong Gilmer County resident Kent Sanford will be joining the team as Executive Director on November 1, 2017. Chartered in 2015, the Greater Gilmer Joint Development Authority’s mission is to be the catalyst for a strong, viable economy that honors the character of our community. A joint effort between the county government, city of Ellijay, and City of East Ellijay, the seven member board unanimously chose Mr. Sanford to lead the organization into 2018 and beyond.
A thirty eight year veteran of the banking industry, Mr. Sanford will bring that experience in working with businesses to bear as he leads the charge in recruiting new businesses and investment into our community and just as critically supporting our existing businesses.
Throughout his career Kent has always been a part of the community by serving on numerous boards of local nonprofits, serving as Chairman of the Board for the Gilmer Chamber is 2009, as a member of the Ellijay Downtown Development Authority Board, and on the library board. When asked he responded that this position will allow him an even greater opportunity to give back to the community.
