Letter from the President
“The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do.” – Steve Jobs
At the Gilmer Chamber, yes, we are just a tad bit crazy enough to believe we can change the world — or at least our little corner of it. I am honored to work with and for an amazing group of people who still believe in hard work, community and doing what is right.
Community development, business development, and economic development are the cornerstones of what we do and who we are. And, none of it is easy work. That is why we get up each day and ask, “What will we do today to make our community better?”
A chamber of commerce is not a building. It isn’t made up of bricks and mortar. A chamber is its members. It is a group of like-minded business leaders and individuals who come together around a common goal — to make a community thrive.
For me and the staff of the Gilmer Chamber, each day brings an exciting and often new challenge to meet. Whether we are working with a member to better meet their needs in an ever increasingly competitive economic environment; talking to a new resident of our community; helping a family have the best vacation ever; working on a festival or event; or helping steer a potential new entrepreneur to the resources they need — the staff of the Gilmer Chamber is dedicated to each challenge.
Since 2008, I have served as President of the Chamber. I am proud of the accomplishments we have made and extremely proud to be a part of such a dynamic team. In 2011 we were among the first chambers in Georgia to become a Georgia Certified Chamber. This was an honor that we hold up as testament to the leadership of our strong board and the strength of our members and organization.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our team members or myself. We look forward to being of service to you — whatever needs you may have!
