Long before “organic and natural” became marketing buzzwords, Gilmer Countians were enjoying the fruits of their labor with locally grown produce, vegetables, and meats. Today visitors are also enjoying those efforts.
Local Farms & Markets give visitors the opportunity to visit a working farm, purchase savory grass fed beef, pork or poultry, or find seasonal fresh veggies and other handcrafted items at the local farmer’s market.
Gilmer County also offers multiple vineyards to fulfill you taste for North Georgia wines.
Gilmer County wouldn’t be the Apple Capital of Georgia without a large variety of apple houses and orchards growing apples and offering year round canned preserves, ciders, and baked goods. Seasonally they offer a variety of produce, apple picking and other activities for families to enjoy.
Gilmer County is part of the North Georgia Farm Trail which includes four other North Georgia counties. The trail includes not only homegrown goods, but handmade items as well. Your agri-adventures can include picking apples and berries, saddling up for a scenic horse-back ride, cuddling with a friendly alpaca or exploring a farm or historic homestead.
