![]() Chili Cook-Off Entry Fee: $20 per recipe Please arrive at 8:30 a.m. for registration Judging will be at 11:30 a.m.
Who may enter: Any business, restaurant, service group or individual. A team may have a maximum of 4 people.
What to bring: Challengers must bring their own supplies. Challengers need to also bring a food thermometer and several gallons of water for sanitary purposes. We will provide one 3X8 foot table per team. Only one table or space will be allowed per team. You should bring your own chairs. There will be no electricity provided.
Rules for Cooking: Food Safety is a must. Use sanitary practices and keep chili hot. You must follow the Chili Cook-Off food safety standards, which is attached. o Chili must be cooked on site o Be prepared from scratch (no commercial mixes, etc..) o You must be willing to taste your own chili o You must be prepared to cook in the open (no RV’s or closed tents)
Judging: Judges will vote for the chili they like best based on the following major considerations: o Aroma – should smell appetizing o Consistency – should be smooth combination of meat & gravy (sauce) o Color – should look appetizing o Texture- meat should have a good texture o Flavor – should taste good and have a pleasing blend of spices o Aftertaste – should leave pleasant taste in mouth You must bring a copy of your recipe and be prepared to post a list of all ingredients used.
Awards: Awards will be given for the Best Restaurant, Business/Service organization, and Individual.
**Participants who wish to sell their chili after the judging may do so. The Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce would appreciate a donation from this profit.
