Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce

Business Connections February 2016

On February 25, 2016 Gilmer Christian Learning Center hosted the first Business Connections of the year.

The Gilmer CLC staff, board of directors and volunteers did an astounding job opening their doors for our business community to share in their work. We had a wonderful turn out from the business community. The food and networking were fantastic. Some of the delicious treats were provided by East Ellijay Baptist Church and the Pink Pig.

Special thank you to Speaker of the House David Ralston, who made time out of his busy schedule and visited with everyone and announced that $595,000 in maintenance on nine bridges will be completed as part of our LMIG transportation grant program. This funding, bolstered by the revenues from the Transportation Funding Act (HB 170), is in addition to the $7.5 million in transportation projects for Gilmer County that have already been announced. This maintenance will ensure that school buses, fire trucks and tractor trailers can continue to safely traverse bridges in the county.

Congratulations to Melissa Basset with Kevin Panter Insurance on winning the $250 prize. Thank you to our Cash Sponsors: River Street Tavern, Walls of Books Ellijay, Marketplace Promotions, LLCSquareFrame Media, H&R Block, United Community Bank, Mahan & Associates, Edward Jones Investments, Hensley CPA, LLC, and Advocare – Karleen & Robert Ferguson.

Our next Business Connections will be held April  21 from 4:30-6:30pm and hosted by Hensley CPA. If you are interested in sponsoring future events contact Taelar Bybee at the Gilmer Chamber.
