North Georgia has the best festivals and events in September & October. From Brews and BBQ to Fall fairs and festivals, here are the best events happening in North Georgia.


Kick off of Apple Pickin’ Jubilee at Hillcrest Orchards
Starts Saturday September through October

The Apple Pickin’ Jubilee is a U-Pick festival held every weekend through the months of September and October on the farm at Hillcrest. Activities included in the general admission are wagon rides, cow milking, pig races, multiple playgrounds, jumping pillow, giant slide, pedal cart and trike races, moonshine museum and farmhouse museum. They have also recently added Hillcrest Hillbilly Mini Golf Course and a cow train. There is live country and bluegrass music and clogging on their stage. They have a petting zoo and pony rides. They also have a farm market.

You can also pick your own apples at BJ Reece OrchardsR & A OrchardsRed Apple Barn, and Mercier Orchards.

Good Samaritan’s 15th Annual Flea Market
September 15 & 16

Every year there is an excitement for the greatest flea market event in Ellijay. The Good Samaritan Catholic Church puts together the best variety of used items from furniture to clothing and many other great items to find. Click Here for more information. 

Maxxis Tires Fool’s Gold 60 Mountain Bike Race at Anderson Creek Retreat
September 16

Not long after the sun rises over Springer Mountain on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 400 to 500 mountain bikers will begin a sixty mile course starting from the Anderson Creek Retreat community on Old Bucktown Road. For seven to eleven grueling hours racers will maneuver high-tech titanium and aluminum racing machines through the back country of the Georgia mountains with big climbs, fast descents and beautiful mountain scenery to determine race winners. Tiny Home Mountain Festival
September 23-24

North Georgia’s First Annual Tiny Home Mountain Festival. Bringing the culture of Tiny Home Living to the Beautiful North Georgia Mountains. This event will celebrate the lifestyle of the mountains by having wine, food, artist, music, tiny homes, solar, and guides to the great outdoors.

Arts Festival Monet Water Lily Festival at Gibbs Gardens
September 23-24 and September 30 – October 1

Hundreds of water lilies will be in bloom at beautiful Gibbs Gardens. A french market will feature chocolates, flowers, soaps, produce and more. French influenced cuisine and artists will be selling original works of art in all mediums. Enjoy live music and the beautiful gardens.

Dancing Goats FolkFest
September 30-October 1

Dancing Goats FolkFest will pay homage the old Saturday-go-to-town days and have the atmosphere of a mountain shindig. The celebration will be located on North Church Street and the adjoining boardwalk, one of the little mountain town’s newest gathering places. Click Here to read more.


Cherry Log Festival
October 7-8 and 14-15

Just between Ellijay and Blue Ridge is the small community of Cherry Log. The first 2 weekends of October, the community celebrates the harvest with the Cherry Log Festival. Serving delicious homemade breakfast and lunch, offering arts and crafts, homemade cakes, pies, and canned goods, as well as, bluegrass, gospel and country music at the Cherry Log Community Clubhouse.

Georgia Apple Festival
October 14-15 and 21-22

The biggest event of the year is the Georgia Apple Festival Arts & Crafts Show. In its 46th year the Georgia Apple Festival has grown from humble beginnings to be one of the largest and most well-attended festivals in Georgia. The Apple Festival features handmade, handcrafted arts and crafts, live entertainment, beauty pageant, car show, parade, delicious treats from fried Oreos to gyros, and all things apple. The Apple Festival is held the 2nd and 3rd full weekends in October at the Lions Club Fairgrounds.

Apple Arts in Downtown Ellijay
October 14-15 and 21-22

During the same weekends as the Apple Festival, Apple Arts on the Square in located in historic downtown Ellijay. A smaller version of the Apple Festival, this event allows you to enjoy a festival, but you can also enjoy our local shops and restaurants.

Annual Fall Arts in the Park in Blue Ridge, GA
October 14-15

Enjoy nearly 100 fine art and craft artists, delicious food and a kid’s art zone hosted by Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association.

Japanese Maples Colorfest at Gibbs Gardens
October 28-29, November 4-5 and 11-12

Experience the largest Japanese Gardens in America. View over 2,000 Japanese maples as they display brilliant fall color in shades of orange, red, yellow, and gold. There will martial arts demonstrations, musical performances and cuisine.

Halloween in Downtown Ellijay
October 31
